Solar energy storage is one of the key issue of the energy transition. This is why Paleo researchers have chosen to focus on patents dealing with topic. Solar energy can appear as light or as heat. Heat attracted the attention of several inventors.
In 1979, three french inventors – Philippe Courrege, Jean Deflandre and François Valette – registered a patent about an “installation for storage and recuperation of calorific energy, especially for a solar power station”. The device contains solar cells-exchangers, connected to two closed circuits that can be jointed. A heat transfer liquid runs in the circuits. This fluid can power a thermodynamic conversion machine – turning the heat into another form of energy, such as electricity.
